Personal Profile

I have recently graduated from Birmingham City University’s prestigious School of Jewellery. Having successfully gained a HND Jewellery Design & Silversmithing last year I progressed onto the university’s new BA Design for Industry course gaining a 2.1 with honors and a continued improvement to my design and manufacturing skills with a view to enter into a career within an established company as a designer.

Skills and attributes I have gained throughout study include:

  • The ability to catalogue and analyse current design trends as well as predicting future trends.

  • Creating design concepts from a wide range of inspirational material

  • Presenting ideas through the use of sketches, rendered images, CAD images and models.

  • Technical problem solving and design realisation

  • Creating commercial pieces with effective marketing

  • Proficiency in the use of 3 CAD software programmes – Jewelcad, Artcam Jewelsmith and Rhino

  • A variety of traditional and modern manufacturing skills

  • Time management and organisation

  • The ability to work with the cooperation of external companies and outworkers.

 

Skills prior to university education:

Skills acquired within my current role include:

Customer service – I have the capability to discuss the needs of each individual customer and offer advice and products to best cater for their needs and requirements. With tact and patience I have been able to defuse various customer complaints throughout my time with the company and am often commended for the high standard of service I give. I like to go the extra mile for each of my customers which on occasion has seen me travel across the Midlands to source stock from another branch under my own merit and in my free time if we cannot order the piece they want in time for their special event.

Product knowledge – I have gained a vast knowledge of both watches and fine jewellery and am able to pass this on to my customers ensuring they are fully informed of the piece they are purchasing. I have also learnt how to carry out various watch and jewellery repairs in store. I passed the JET1 qualification with flying colours last year and am currently working toward becoming a Diamond Specialist within the company.

Targeted goals – I have consistently achieved targeted goals throughout my time with the company and am currently ranked 2nd within the store of 25 employees with regards to performance against target.

Other work related skills include:

  • Working competently as a team or under my own merit with professionalism and dedication

  • The responsibility to handle larger sums of money

  • Handling finance and credit applications

  • Selling jewellery/ watch insurance and processing insurance claims.

  • Re-ticketing and launching new lines and displays within the store

  • Training staff on the shop floor in all aspects of service and procedures.

 

I am a dedicated member of any team with fantastic social and communication skills. I am quick to adapt to any new role or task set and relish any challenges within all aspects of my life.
